John Hornberger, MD, MS
Cedar’s founding member and Principal (John Hornberger,
MD, MS), an Adjunct Clinical
Professor of Medicine at Stanford University, is an
internationally acclaimed health services and policy
researcher with research interests that include the
economics of medical technologies and strategies and
decision analytical methodologies. He is an Editor of
the leading health policy journal, Value in Health.

Joseph Rickert, Research Analyst
Joseph has over twenty years
experience in product and strategic marketing. Before
joining Cedar, Joseph was a senior partner at Marketing
Mechanics, a consulting firm providing data analysis,
forecasting, market assessment and risk analysis
expertise to a number of prominent companies including
Cisco and VeriSign. Joseph has worked in several
industries including networking, semiconductors,
test-equipment and bio-technology. He has held senior
marketing positions at such notable Silicon Valley
start-ups as Sytek Inc., Parallan Computer, Alantec,
Phase Metrics and Scotts Valley Instruments where he was
a founder and Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Joseph
holds a BA (Mathematics) from Franklin and Marshall
College, an MA in Humanities from the California State
University, Dominguez Hills and an MS in Statistics from
the California State University, Hayward.
Ashwini Shewade, Research Analyst
Ashwini has three years experience working as a
statistician researcher in both the health care and
consumer goods industries. Before joining Cedar
Associates she was a Research Analyst at Acumen LLC
where she performed cost-benefit and statistical
analyses for several Pharmaceutical clients. As a
graduate student at the University of Texas School of
Public Health in Houston, TX, Ashwini contributed to two
National Cancer Institute funded studies, estimating the
repeat mammography prevalence rate of non-responders for
breast cancer screening of women veterans, and
evaluating the economics of behavioral intervention in
colorectal cancer screening. Before moving to the United
States, Ashwini worked as a Consumer Science Officer in
the Hindustan Lever Ltd, a leading consumer goods
company in India.
Ashwini holds an MS in Biostatistics and Health
Economics, from the University of Texas School Public
Health, and an MSc in Mathematical Statistics from the
University of Mumbai, India.
Julie
Doberne, Research Analyst
Julie,
a recent graduate of Brown University, has experience in
both epidemiologic data research and basic laboratory
research. She specializes in comprehensive literature
reviews and developing the data models required to
support complex economic cost-effectiveness analyses.
Before joining Cedar Associates, Julie worked as a
technician in the laboratory of Dr. Nina Holland at the
UC Berkeley School of Public Health where she managed
the biological samples database and helped to
quantitatively assess the toxicity of pesticides and
herbicides in inhabitants of California’s Central
Valley. Additionally, as a Brown student under the
supervision of Charles Eaton MD, Director of the Center
for Primary Care and Prevention in Pawtucket, RI Julie
helped to develop the automated interview script used to
assess the effectiveness of the HeartAge program in
educating consumers about the risk factors associated
with cardiovascular disease.
Julie
holds a BS in Biology from Brown University.
